Tony Award Winning Musial La Cage Aux Folles Graces The Barn Theatre Stage
with Nine Piece Orchestra
March 9th Thru March 26, 2023
This season, you'll get to see a Tony Award winning musical embrace an Academy Award winning movie. That's right, La Cage Aux Folles, winner of the Tony Award for Best Musical and Best Revival, was the inspiration for the 1996 Academy Award winning movie, The Birdcage. We all remember The Birdcage starring Robin Williams, Nathan Lowe, Gene Hackman, Diane Wiest, and Dan Futterman. Well, the movie characters' names may be different than they are in La Cage, but the characters themselves are the same, and the plot of both musical and movie ever enduring - a gay cabaret owner and his drag queen companion agree to face the hardest test of their relationship, namely, to put up a false “straight” front so that their son can introduce them to his fiancée's right-wing moralistic parents and get their blessing. The Barn's production of La Cage encompasses the best in musical score and vocal delivery, insanely aerobatic and sometimes tender choreography, some of the most ornate costumes you'll ever see on a Treasure Coast stage, and an exceptional acting core assembled from throughout the Treasure Coast and the Palm Beaches. In short, this show is a production onto its own. It is full of wonderful music, dance, glamour, humor, tenderness, and magnificence.
The cast include Paul Heiner (Georges), Kyle Weber (Albin), Sean Birkett (Jean-Michel), Shelby Percival (Anne Dindon), Katelyn Anne Johnson (Jacqueline), Matt Wood (Jacob), Jake Sanders (Francis), Dave Murray (Dindon), and Mary Murphy (Marie Dindon). The magnificent Cagelles are Jy'Ireze Bell-Bennet. Marcio Hamerschlak, Andy Morejon, Orisel Perez-Serrano, Michelle Brown, Natalie Pak, and Savannah Russian. The Ensemble include Stephen Meyer, Jennifer Goodman, Chris Mazzella, Jeanette Mazzella, Kasey Gorby, and Molly Raimondi.
