DESCRIPTION:The Chinese Warriors of Peking bring some of the greatest acrobats and martial arts masters in the world to The Lyric stage for a tale some 400 years old. This new production is filled with high-intensity martial arts and breath-taking acrobatics and tells the story of two rival martial arts disciplines\, competing in the ancient Chinese capital of Peking during the Ming Dynasty. Under the direction of Qui Jian\, the show is filled with juggling\, acrobatics\, weapons handling and live stage combat.\n\n\n\nThrough martial arts and acrobatics\, the performers depict the story of an emperor\, who\, each year\, held a royal martial arts tournament inviting warriors from all over the country. Jugglers\, contortionists and representatives from all the martial arts disciplines competed in acts that included breaking "Steel Bar on the Head\," the "Pagoda of Bowls\," the "Bicycle of Women Warriors\," the "Group of Pyramids" and "Ring Diving."\n\n\n\nThe company of The Chinese Warriors of Peking was founded in 1958 as a group of Chinese acrobats and martial artists. They have toured the world and in 2016\, the company's performance of "Pagoda of Bowls" was selected by the American UniverSoul Circus to tour the United States with the host circus. Its "Slack Wire" act was picked up by Cirque du Soleil and has toured with them around the world.\n\n\n\nThe Chinese Warriors of Peking is presented by the Ministry of Culture of the People's Republic of China and Columbia Artists Management. The company has received numerous awards throughout the years for each of its spell-binding acts\; acts so sensational that they will keep everyone on the edge of their seats.
