Here's What You Told us About How to Make Florida Government & Civics More Efficient

On November 27, we traveled to Orlando to release the Florida 2030 recommendations for the Civic & Governance Pillar, which outline the key targets and strategies on how we can align and leverage private, public, and civic partners to accomplish Florida's economic competitiveness, prosperity, and quality of life goals. We heard and learned from business, education, community, elected and philanthropic leaders. Your thoughts and conversations on the issues within this pillar echoed what we continue to hear across the state: Florida is ready to compete and succeed but we must be ready to face future challenges head-on.

Special thanks to our host David Odahowski, President & CEO of Edyth Bush Charitable Foundation for support and assistance in releasing this important research.

HERE'S WHAT YOU HAD TO SAY

We asked you what leaders in your region should focus on to succeed in 2030 and beyond. Here are the top three things you shared:

1. FLORIDA'S PHILANTHROPIC AND COMMUNITY GIVING
Florida continues to be a top destination for retirees and as they move to Florida, they contribute to our overall economy. During the rollout, participants discussed the need to ensure these new Floridians become engaged in their local communities and that we are able to retain more of Florida's philanthropic wealth in the state and direct it toward statewide needs and priorities

2. PREPARE FOR FLORIDA'S CHANGING POPULATION
Florida's population continues to become more diverse. According to TheFloridaScorecard.org's live population counter, Florida's population has topped 21.4 million. How can we bring together a growing population and strengthen our state? One Florida 2030 strategy for growth is to strengthen regional partnerships focused on future competitiveness and prosperity for all residents.

3. COLLABORATE AT THE SPEED OF OPPORTUNITY
As we plan for 2030 and continue to grow, it will be crucial that we provide the opportunity and resources all Floridians need to pave pathways toward prosperity.  In order to succeed, it will be important for business, industry, philanthropic and community leaders to collaborate at the speed of opportunity and come up with solutions that aren't one-size-fits-all, but that address the specific needs of each community.
