A.C.T. Studio Theatre in Stuart is pulling out the stops for its first Off-Broadway musical production, “The Fantasticks,” the world's longest-running musical. With
lyrics by Tom Jones and music by Harvey Schmidt, the original show was performed off-Broadway for 42 years; the revival just closed in 2017! Entrancing generations of audiences the world over, “The Fantasticks” is a funny and romantic musical that brings to life a touching story of innocence--and knowledge. Many of the songs have become classics.
Tony Honors for Excellence in Theatre was awarded to Messrs. Jones and Schmidt for “The Fantasticks.” Director Heidi Condon says, “’The Fantasticks’ is whimsical, thought-provoking, lighthearted and fun. Get lost in the music, have fun with the characters and feel what it is like to be in love again.”
